You never know how strong you are, until you get in a little hot water.

Nora Roberts doesn't disappoint. Though her characters start out down on their luck, bruised, struggling, they NEVER stay that way.... I first read book one while I was at work. I worked in a jail and this was in the jailhouse library. I read through it in one twelve hour shift. I needed more so I came home and ordered the box set. I had to have it in my collection. The second and third of this series did not disappoint either.

Three sisters island collection by Nora Roberts

Nora Roberts produces a large amount of books. I enjoy her books because they are not overly complicated and easy to follow. She also will develop the main characters in a series of books. This collection features three women and other characters in a three book set - Dance Upon the Air, Heaven and Earth, and Face the Fire. The 3 women are brought together by a common bond, as they go up against an evil enemy. This collection is abridged and very enjoyable. Fantastic for a long journey and equally while running errands locally. If you have to stop the CD frequently, that's not a problem as the thread is easy to pick up. I hope this review helps you.

A touch of magic, a bit of romance, a legacy handed down through generations make a great read

One of my favorite Nora Roberts trilogies. It's for those of us who know there's a bit of magic in everyone and everything. A three century legacy culminates with six people who are tied by blood and friendship vanquishing evil to save their island from destruction. I like the characters, the story, the paranormal aspect, and the whole package. It's light reading. It's not perfect for everyone. For me, it's just what I need at times. I've read this series several times and am glad to have it in print, audio, and electronic versions. Again, not perfect for everyone and several may find flaws in the story. However, every time I read this trilogy, I end up believing anything is possible.

This principle is a solution proposed to a key preoccupation in both international relations and international law scholarship: how the international community is to respond to mass atrocities within sovereign States. There are three facets to this responsibility; the responsibility to prevent; the responsibility to react, and the responsibility to rebuild.

This doctrine will be analysed in light of the parallel development of customary and treaty international legal obligations imposing responsibilities on sovereign states to the international community in key international law fields such as international human rights law, international criminal law and international environmental law. These new developments demand academic study and this book fills this lacuna by rigorously considering all of these developments as part of a trend towards assumption of international responsibility. This must include the responsibility on the part of all states to respond to threats of genocide, crimes against humanity, ethnic cleansings and large-scale war crimes. The discussion surrounding aggravated state responsibility is also explored, with the author concluding that this emerging norm within international law is closely related to the responsibility to protect in its imposition of an international responsibility to act in response to an international wrong.

This book will be of great interest to scholars on international law, the law of armed conflict, security studies and IR in general.

My boyfriend is a huge curb your enthusiasm fan do I bought this book as part of his birthday gift. He loves it! Good thing I have a good sense of humor because he also loves reading it out loud.

Pretty, Pretty, Really Good

Any Curb fan will laugh at the show references throughout the book and the pretty, pretty funny ways the contributors break down philosophical concepts which are relevant to a particular scene or theme. Larry's take on the world is actually VERY philosophical. Lots of fun to read.

If, like my, you are a fan of Larry David's work on Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, buy this book! It has put many of the episodes in a new light for me, and the philosophical contextualization is compelling and profound. I can't fault this book in any way!

KNOTS! As Promised

Like all the books in the field guide series, this book is compact and thin making it easy to pack or carry on your person. This is what I was looking for! In a stressful situation or if depending on a novice to help you, having a pocket reference guide to some of the most useful knots is a God sent. Written for any level reader, it first makes clear the terminology that is going to be used without making it sound like a lecture. Creek never talks down to his readers, he talks to you. This helps on many levels. After this the instructions along with the clear B&W drawings makes it easy to recreate the knots featured. At the end of the book is an area for your own personal notes. In my opinion, there's only two things I think would make this book better; print it on waterproof paper (would add to cost be worth it) and a spiral spine, to open and hold the book open or flat while viewing the knot needed.
Overall, exactly what I needed in my kit.

Knots are the vehicle by which cordage becomes a tool

This is by far my favorite of Creek’s field guides so far. It gives a comprehensive list of 19 basic knots that everyone should know. The diagrams are clear and easy to read. The instructions are also on point, both of which can be a big problem in other places I’ve learned knots. You will learn the lingo that goes along with tying knots as well as the types of rope conducive to each one. I also like that it sometimes mentions where they are applicable as well as where you should not use them. Definitely looking forward to volume 2.

It started with Britain a few years after the Resurrection (AD 37);
Joseph of Arimathea, the great uncle of Jesus of Nazareth, was driven
from Israel by the evil Sanhedrin of that day. But what a blessing that
was; because it started a Christian revolution that brought "the Way",
the one and only true religion to the world. Rome only became a
Christian nation under Constantine, whose mother was Helen, a
British Princess. Oh how we have been misled by so called historians.

He says the old guys can teach you a lot but learning from your peers is important and useful because they understand what it is you’re trying to learn and the problems you’re facing. Brian has taught beginners programming for several years. He has a knack for explaining things in simple English.

Great book for teens who want to learn Python.

This book throws you straight into building games which makes learning a lot of fun. First you just make a cloud that rains on a character and makes him put his umbrella up. It’s simple but then you see how it’s the basis for a space invader game. Then you do pong, a game where you catch flies on a frog’s tongue and then a tank battle. You still learn classes and functions and how to do the maths etc., but you get a proper working game, four in fact, at the end of it. There are a lot of things like different types of collision detection, how to build start screens and game over screens, how to show lives and energy levels and that sort of thing on the screen. In addition there are sound effects. The book also shows you different approaches to the same problems so you learn different ways of doing things. And they explain every single line of code in simple English. No gaps. They just want to get you developing things without bogging you down in technical language. Plus you can ask the authors questions through their website. I totally recommend this book for teens who want to learn Python and maybe older people. There’s a lot of jokes in the book too, some of them good.
